The world’s 10 best road trip routes through rocky mountains, wild forests and rugged coastlines have been revealed.

Blu-Ric Parkway, United States
The 750 km trip extends from Afton to Cherokee. Riders can enjoy a scenic route through the rocky terrain and forests of Virginia and North Carolina. The road owes its name to the blue color of the mountains. While the route is stunning any time of year, it is especially beautiful in the fall.
Great St Bernard Pass, Italy
This road takes tourists from Italy to Switzerland. The first scene of the movie “The Italian Robbery” shows the panoramic drive of the Lamborghini passing through the Great St. Bernard Pass. For some drivers, taking a nearly untouched route can be both intimidating and surprising. Steep cliffs, hairpin bends and narrow tunnels await you along the way.
Southern Highway, Chile
Here, adventurers can chart their own path from Puerto Montt to Patagonia and Villa Ohiggins. Tourists are recommended to travel to the South American wildlife from October to April to enjoy the best views. The route passes through Santa Lucía, Hoykag and Tortel and ends in Villa Ohiggins.
North Coast 500, Scotland
In Britain, equally stunning scenery can be enjoyed by taking a 500-mile road trip along the north coast of Scotland. Drivers and passengers will see rugged mountains, sandy beaches and quaint remote villages. They will pass Black Isle, Easter Ross, Caithness and the northernmost point, John O’Groats. The route then returns to the west coast and crosses Sutherland, Wester-Ross back to Inverness.
Wayanad Ghat Road, India
It has stunning loops through the mountainous terrain and routes through the Western Ghat forest. Tourists can cross the Thamarasseri Churam mountain pass, which is 800 meters above sea level. Along the way, they can stop to swim in beautiful waterfalls and hike incredible trails.
Japanese alps
Another trip in the top ten is the long trip from Kyoto to Tokyo. Travelers will be able to stop at onsens, Japanese spa centers with hot springs in the mountains, and visit popular attractions. Along the way, you’ll see the samurai city of Matsumoto, the historic city of Karuizawa, and finally Tokyo itself.
Atlantic Highway, Norway
This road from Molde to Gyemnessundbrua Bridge is considered one of the best ways to see Norway and you will not be disappointed. As its name suggests, drivers will be able to enjoy spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean. Since there can be strong storms in winter, impressions will be very different depending on the season in which you travel.
Southern Utah National Parks Trail, USA
U.S. Route 66 is famous, but true adventurers know that Utah’s Southern National Parks route is something to add to the list. Hikers will be able to enjoy the desert landscape of southern Utah. They will be able to see Canyonlands National Park, Grand Sterkeys-Escalant National Monument, Capitol Reef National Park, as well as Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks.
Panoramic route, South Africa
The journey extends from Hoedspruit to Pilgrims Rest and crosses the Drakensberg slope. Travelers will stop at Blyde River Canyon, known as “God’s Window.” They will also be able to see the famous Kruger National Park and the Lebombo Mountains on the Central African Republic’s border with Mozambique.
Great Ocean Road, Australia
Rounding out the top ten is the Great Ocean Road in Australia. The route runs from Melbourne to 12 Apostles Rocks and returns riders to the starting point. The road starts in Torquay and runs along the coast to Port Campbell.
