10 years in ISIS captivity: grisly details of freed Yazidi woman’s story have emerged

The story of the Yazidi girl Fauzia, who was kidnapped ten years ago by an ISIS terrorist in Gaza, is a tragic example of the suffering experienced by many victims of this terrorist organization.

Fauzia was forcibly held captive, forced to marry her captor and rapist, and in this marriage she gave birth to two children. After years of suffering, she was freed, but her children remained with her captor’s family in Gaza, adding more pain to her life.

Recall that the IDF confirmed the rescue of 21-year-old Yazidi woman Fawzia Amin Sida, who was freed after a decade of captivity in the Gaza Strip. Fawzia was kidnapped by ISIS in Iraq and then sold to an ISIS-affiliated Hamas militant. Her release was made possible after the terrorist who was holding her was killed in an Israeli attack.

She was kidnapped by ISIS in 2014, when terrorists captured her hometown of Sinjar in northern Iraq. Since then, her life has become endless suffering: she was transported between different countries and sold as merchandise. Fawzia said she visited Syria, Türkiye, Egypt and was then taken to Gaza.

Fawzia Amin Sidu’s story is a reminder of the tragic fate of many Yazidi women who continue to suffer the consequences of ISIS atrocities. Some 3,500 Yazidi women have been freed in recent years, but hundreds remain captive or missing.
