Fourteen children, citizens of the republic who were left without parental supervision, were returned from St. Petersburg to Uzbekistan, the news agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Dunyo, reported. According to it, the parents of most of the children were previously deported from Russia due to violation of the rules of stay in the territory of the Russian Federation.

Since 2022, a special interdepartmental group has been working in Uzbekistan to identify and return children left without parents in Russia to their homeland.

Since the beginning of 2024, 65,000 foreigners who broke the law have been expelled from Russia and another 120,000 foreign citizens have been banned from entering the country, the Russian Interior Ministry said in July. In 2023, according to the department, about 110,000 people were expelled from Russia, almost twice as many as in previous years.
