At least 17 children died and 14 others were seriously injured due to a fire recorded in the early hours of this Friday in a room of a educational center in central Kenya, as confirmed by the authorities of the African country.
Kenya National Police Spokesperson Resila Onyangodetailed in statements made to Nation FM radio that 16 of the victims died instantly, while another died shortly after being admitted to hospital.
“There was a fire in the residence. It happened during the night and we are yet to determine the cause,” said Onyango, who said he could not yet confirm whether firefighters had managed to contain the flames in the centre, located north of the capital, Nairobi.
