180 snow plows ready for the arrival of winter in Castile-La Mancha

The government will deploy 180 snow plow trucksand 33,756 tons of flow on the national road network of Castile-La Mancha to cope with possible frost and snowfall during the 2024-2025 winter road campaign, already in force and which will last until April 30.

There will be three snow plows and 500 tonnes more flow than last season; 37 factories and 2,237,500 liters of brine (95,000 more); 101 weather stations; and 13 emergency parking lots (seven in Toledo, two in Ciudad Real, two in Cuenca and two in Guadalajara), with a total capacity of 3,639 heavy vehicles, which “are those that circulate the most and can have the most problems in these circumstances”, explained the government delegate in the region, Milagros Tolón. In addition, two other emergency parking projects have already been approved: one at kilometer 61 of the A-2, in the province of Guadalajara, and another at kilometer 51 of the A-3, in La Gineta, province of Albacete.

Concerning the staff, 709 workers will be mobilized of companies, concessionaires and personnel also of the Administration itself.

This device will affect 3,780 kilometers of roads conventional highways, highways and national roads that cross Castilla-La Mancha. Specifically, there are 207 kilometers of toll highways, 1,393 kilometers of highways and 2,178 kilometers of conventional roads.

Tolón believes that “coordination” between the Community Council, provincial councils and town halls, as well as with state security forces and agencies and other organizations such as the DGT or Aemet, is as important as the measures that will be put in place. “We are all part of the same system of prevention, control and also assistance and we are all the State, from the small town hall of the most depopulated areas of the province of Guadalajara to the largest town hall in Castile- La Mancha, as Albacete can be,” he said.

Likewise, it is “very important” that citizens pay particular attention to the weather forecasts that Aemet always makes as well as to the information from the General Directorate of Traffic on the state of the roads.
