According to estimates by the Ministry of Ecology, there are more elephants than necessary. The government has therefore ordered the specialists at the ZimParks nature park to start culling the animals.
According to experts, Zimbabwe is home to 100,000 elephants. The country is second only to Botswana in terms of the number of these animals.
The government hopes the culling of the animals will ease water supply problems and provide meat for thousands of people starving due to the drought.
