Riziki (not his real name) told DW that he had experienced an attack.
“Three soldiers entered my house to get,” Riziki said. “One of them entered my bedroom to rape me, but I resisted.”
“Others shouted at him to leave, but he refused,” Riziki said. “Fortunately, my child came to save me, and they left after they destroyed everything.”
The crime occurred in February in the village of Kavumu, about 30 kilometers (18 miles) in the north. After that, the Riziki, the mother of five children, found shelter in the open air.
He hopes to receive justice in the open air during the planned trial. But then the fighters M23 controlled the city. Judges, lawyers, accused, prisoners and even some survivors escaped.
