The Georgian Prosecutor’s Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Special Investigative Service began investigating alleged crimes committed during the pre-election period and on the day of the parliamentary elections in 47 criminal cases.

Allegations of electoral fraud, pressure on voters, violation of the secrecy of the vote, bribery, obstruction of journalistic activity, threats and damage to property are being investigated.

According to the prosecutor’s office, the investigation was launched on the basis of statements from the opposition, the ruling party, the Central Election Commission, NGOs and information from the media.

The prosecution stated that people who publicly claim to have information about possible violations in the parliamentary elections have so far refused to cooperate with the investigation and provide relevant information.

The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs announced the arrest of two people for putting ballots into a ballot box at polling station number 69 in the village of Sadkhalo, Marneuli district.
