5-2. The Illes Balears Palma Futsal marks a great first in Son Moix

Illes Balears Palma Futsal faced its first official match at home after the first day’s defeat against Industrias Santa Coloma. The team of Antonio Vadillo I needed to regain sensations, aware of the demanding schedule that awaits me, with six crucial matches in three weeks. The rival, Servigroup Peñíscola, had just made a positive start to the championship, and Vadillo had already warned that they would have to be at the best level to get something out of the match.

It didn’t take long for visitors to test Carlos Barron with several shots at the start of the match, but the goalkeeper responded firmly. Around the halfway point of the first half, Illes Balears Palma Futsal started to find their rhythm. In the 9th minute, on a set piece, Marcelo took advantage of a rebound from goalkeeper Gus after a shot Fabinho to go beyond the premises. Shortly after, David Pena He almost scored the second goal with a shot that hit the post and went past the empty net.

Bruno Gomes He also hit the post on another clear chance, while Marcelo forced Gus to intervene again with a close-range shot. The Palma team began to impose its game, and from the 13th minute, Neguinho, almost recently arrived from Brazil, scored a superb goal straight into the corner after a throw-in, demonstrating his quality with a powerful shot that Gus could barely see go past. With the score 2-0, Servigroup Peñíscola tried to react, but failed to reduce the gap before the break.

The second half started in ideal fashion for the locals, when Bruno Gomes extends the lead with an early goal. Even though Peñíscola did not seem to generate too much danger, Illes Balears failed to close out the match. The visiting team took advantage, and PAni scored with a left-footed shot that made the score 3-1. However, Bruno Gomes responded quickly scoring his second personal goal and restoring peace to his team.

Despite this, Peñíscola did not give up. Elías narrowed the gap again after Palma’s fifth foul, leaving the score at 4-2 and with ten minutes to play. With five fouls accumulated by Illes Balears and none by Peñíscola, the pressure was maximum. However, the visiting team chose to play with a goalkeeper-player in the last five minutes, but it was Neguinho who, with a goal in his area, sealed the match scoring into an empty goal for the 5-2 final.

Illes Balears Palma Futsal thus adds its first three points of the season and prepares to continue its marathon of matches in Son Moix, which will continue this Sunday against Viña Albali Valdepeñas.
