The report was identified by the General Federation of the Palestinian Workers Trade Union on Wednesday (04.30.2025).
In the message, before the International Labor Day, which today the Secretary General of the trade union, Shaher Saad, warned of a sharp improvement in unemployment in the entire Palestinian community, saying that the total amount of unemployment has currently reached 507,000 people.
“Thousands of workers were arrested, tortured, became victims of compulsory disappearance, and were fined by the Israeli occupation army for no reason in addition to obtaining livelihoods, especially after October 7, 2023,” Saad said.
“As a result of the economic difficulties that they face, many Palestinians are forced to sell personal goods for income,” the official said.
“About 89% of Palestinian workers do not have access to social protection or pension funds,” he said, describing unemployment, poverty and hunger as the main characteristics that celebrated Labor Day in Palestine this year.
He calculated that the total monthly losses faced by Palestinian workers reached 1.35 billion shekels (about 372.5 million US dollars).
According to the statement, 18 Palestinian workers died from the beginning of 2025 to April 30, including three people killed by the Israeli occupation forces during a trip to their workplace or from them.
Another Palestinian fell from the fifth floor of the building in Jerusalem after the occupation troops broke into the place where he worked.
