Medan – A boy named Gabriel Putra Bulolo (6) was found dead in the Belawan River, on Tuesday (04/22/2025).
The body of Gabriel was found dead in a place that is about 3 kilometers from the initial location of the victim, disappeared on Monday afternoon, April 21, 2025.
The head of the National Agency for the Search and Assistance of the city of Medan (Basarnas), Heri Marantiki, said that the victim was lost by the rapid stream of the Belawan River, playing the coast of rivers in the village of Tanjung Selamat, the Sangal district, Defiger Dagent Regenting, North Sumatra.
When the victim played water, suddenly the stream of the river became rather heavy and took off the victim, which faded away. Friends of the victims who saw the incident then informed the local officials of the village, who were then continued at the Medan Basarnas office. Basarnas, who received a report, immediately threw officers for a search.
“After the search from yesterday, about 08.45, this morning the victim was found in a dead state. The location of the opening of the victim’s body was about 3 kilometers from the village of Tanjung Selamat, ”said Heri, on Tuesday (05.22.2025).
Heri said that at present the victim’s body was evacuated and transferred to his family to be buried. He also expressed his deep sadness for this incident, as well as gratitude to everyone who helped in the search operation.
“We, on behalf of all the rows of Basarnas, reported that deep mourning about the families of victims. Today the victim was found dead. Although this was not the result that we expect, we are grateful that the search process can work smoothly, and the victim was found, ”said Heri Mariantika.
“We express our highest gratitude and gratitude to the united elements of SAR, including TNI, Polri, Medan City BPBD, Kelurahan, volunteers and the surrounding community that work together in search,” he added.
The victim’s body was immediately evacuated and transferred to the family for the funeral process. With the detection of the victim, the SAR operation was officially closed, and all the elements of the participants of the SAR were returned to their relevant units.
Basarnas Medan again turned to the community, especially his parents, to be more vigilant and pay attention to the activities of children throughout the river, especially in the rainy season, and the potential for heavy currents increased.
