Liputan6.com, jakarta – The National Police of the Republic of Indonesia (Polri) celebrates its 79th birthday with the spirit of strengthening accountability and transparency. The Central Information Commission (KIP) assesses that the National Police demonstrates positive progress in the application of the disclosure of public information in accordance with Law No. 14 of 2008.
The Commissioner of the Central Information Commission, Samotuna Ismail, said that at the age of 79, the National Police demonstrated the real commitment to the implementation of the principles of openness, especially by optimizing the role of information and officials of the documentation management (PPID) in various work units.
“We study the efforts of the National Police to provide appropriate and useful public information for the community. This is an important basis for strengthening public trust, ”said Samotunnadzha in a written statement on Tuesday (7/7/2025).
According to him, to various information, such as work programs, budgets and achievements in the field of efficiency, have become more openly available both through official pages and information services at the central and regional levels.
“This corresponds to the vision of the national police, which is accurate – forecasting, responsibility and transparency of justice. Transparency is not only an obligation, but also the need for institutions that serve the public directly, ”he said.
Nevertheless, Samrotunnajah also recalled the problems that must be foreseen by the information management, especially in the balance of public right to know and the need for confidentiality for public interests and security.
“It is here that PPID plays a strategic role. They must deeply understand the KIP law and can determine the border between openness and the exclusion of information in accordance with the rules, ”he said.
National Police General General Listio Sigit Prabaso said that he would accept firm actions against every policeman who, as proved, violates the rules. The National Chief of the Police also emphasized that the institutions that he headed were not anticotics.
