The provincial delegate of Finance, Public Administration and Digital Transformation, Silvia Ferrnández, highlighted in the city of Illescas (Toledo) that the “Inclusion and equality are the hallmarks of the government of Castile-La Mancha also in the field of sport where they play a leading role in the celebration of the “European Sports Region of Castile-La Mancha” in this year 2024.

This was highlighted by Silvia Fernández during a sporting event like the VII Inclusive Motorized Test Meeting organized by the Sports Federation for People with Intellectual Disabilities of Castile-La Mancha (FECAM) in the town of Illescas and in during which the provincial delegate participated in the awards ceremony and the closing ceremony accompanied by the mayor of the city, José Manuel Tofiño.

Fernández recalled that during the “6th edition of this event, we announced that our region would be a sporting reference at European level by 2024 and that a notable commitment was going to be inclusive sport and sport for people with disabilities and Today, on this day, I can say that I am proud that it is like this.

“Since the government chaired by Emiliano García-Page, we have worked for inclusion from an early age and we support adapted and inclusive sports competitions, and events like this regional meeting have shown us the great value of this competition, which combines sport and play with coexistence and social development for the participants,” he assured. And something very important, he added: “contributes to the normalization of people with intellectual disabilities within society. »

For this reason, the provincial delegate thanked “the families, the volunteers, the technical staff and the management team of FECAM with its president at the helm, Jesús Ruiz Oeo, “for their efforts and their work so that this championship was achieves one more year and » this brilliant form, as well as the mayor of Illescas, José Manuel Tofiño, for having hosted here again this magnificent competition.

And in a very special way, Silvia Fernández “congratulated each of the participants in this meeting who made us enjoy and experience a fantastic sporting day in which they excited and entertained us in equal measure”.

To everyone, to their families and to all people with disabilities, the provincial delegate wanted to reiterate the “support of the Government of Castile-La Mancha, convinced that inclusion is an inalienable right and that we will continue to be at your side. initiatives such as access to employment, which means having already reserved 94 public places for people with disabilities and another 33 for people with intellectual disabilities.

In addition, he highlighted the modification of the Public Employment Law of Castile-La Mancha which has “adapted the selection processes for people with intellectual disabilities, which means that the tests are done more independently, with adapted programs and tests.”

“A commitment from the regional government to guarantee the integration of people with disabilities in the public service, which means that more than 100 people with disabilities work in different services of the regional administration,” he concluded.

The 7th Regional Meeting of the inclusive PPMM is a fun activity, full of energy, good atmosphere, camaraderie and collaboration designed as a non-competitive activity in which families, friends and colleagues have fun, play and participate.

Three sports clubs participated in the championship organized in Illescas, two from Toledo, Apace and Escaleno, and a third from Cuenca. A total of 43 athletes with intellectual disabilities and almost 60 people in the organization, including delegates, volunteers and coaches.
