98 high-end vehicles worth 6 million euros recovered during an operation with 66 detainees

The Civil Guard has recovered 98 high-end and premium vehicles which were stolen in different countries, both inside and outside the European Union, and have arrested 66 people belonging to a criminal organization dedicated to vehicle theft due to their involvement in different crimes.

The criminal organization illegally acquired vehicles in different countries of the European Union such as Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Bulgaria, France, Italy, Denmark , Austria or Belgium, or in third countries, such as the United Kingdom and the United States. Subsequently, they modified the security or traceability elements, changing their real identity for that of another vehicle of tender origin, using for this fake or falsified driving license.

They also introduced vehicles from third countries without European approval, passing them off as European, using falsified documents, with the aim of hiding the introduction of non-Community vehicles from Spanish customs without proving their correct importation, in order to save on special taxes on means. transport from third countries.

Once the vehicles arrived in Spain with legal-looking documents, they were presented to ITV stations to obtain the technical inspection card and They registered and legalized them to introduce them to the national and international market through vehicle purchase and sale platforms.

The operation was carried out by the Central Investigation Group of the Traffic Group of the Civil Guard, with the support of the Technical Unit of the Judicial Police and the Frontex Agency.
