Teachers from schools and institutes in the Valencian Community will receive training to be able to helping students overcome trauma of DANA which caused hundreds of deaths and damage in a large part of the province of Valencia. In this sense, schools play a key role. In addition, the Generalitat has sent the centers a protocol containing guidelines for psychological support.

The objective of the course is for teachers to identify “the emotional problems of post-traumatic stress disorder» because they experienced the tragedy personally or through the dramatic images that this historical catastrophe left.

Know how to intervene from school in the face of possible trauma, disorders, behavioral or learning problems and when to contact specialized psychological resources, as explained by the Ministry of Education. To do this, they will learn “individual and group support strategies for students and families”.

The CEFIRE training – Teacher Training Service – is entitled “Crisis Intervention and Trauma-Informed Schools” and is aimed at 5,000 teachers of all academic levels – although places can be expanded if demand is greater – so that they know the psychological and social consequences of what happened.

It will be taught via the Teams platform in four three-hour sessions – from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. – on November 4, 6, 11 and 13. The recordings and course materials will be saved on the Aules de la Generalitat platform available to teachers who were unable to connect because they were affected by the consequences of the storm.
