“Positive” data

The Minister of Employment, José González, appeared this Tuesday at an event after having seen the data to propose an assessment that, he recalled, must be approached “from the point of view of the evolution” of the unemployment and affiliation figures. In Galicia, he said, in reference to the decrease that both have experienced, “they remain positive”, as indicated having reached “the lowest number of unemployed in the entire historical series” in an eighth month. He first spoke about the unemployment rate, which “it is true that it has increased slightly, as happens almost every August, because many temporary contracts end,” revealed the head of the sector, “but in annual terms, we continue to reduce unemployment at a faster rate than in the rest of Spain, 2.25 points above the Spanish average. I think this is relevant information; in addition, we are the third autonomous community that, in relative terms, has the most unemployment compared to the previous year,” he stressed.

also considered “positive” membership data, which represents its “highest number” in August since 2005, almost two decades ago. Despite the recent decline, “if we make this annual comparison, we have about 15,000 more memberships than last year,” he noted. “In the Xunta de Galicia, we continue to work to achieve quality employment within a dynamic and inclusive labor market, always seeking, as it cannot be otherwise, intelligent economic growth,” said the mayor. Among other lines of work, the modernization of the Public Employment Service and the use of tools such as EMi, based on AI, to “match” supply and demand stand out; the promotion of micro-training for the unemployed and the deployment of the regional network of entrepreneurship hubs.
