The wax figure of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, was stolen from the Grevin Museum in Paris on Monday, was soon exhibited in front of the Russian embassy in the French capital, as a result of the action declared by Greenpeace.
“It was a very established action, in terms of teams. At least there were six people who entered, paid their entrance and, distracting the attention of security agents, took advantage of the opportunity to perceive it, ”said the director of the museum in the media, Iva Deelhomomo, who appeared in the exact place where the work was in the room that recreated the presidential office.
After their action, the Greenpeace militants left the yellow banner in the museum, which prayed “business is a business” and a Russian flag.
Soon, the figure was exposed to activists in front of the Russian embassy in Paris to condemn that France continues to buy natural gas from Moscow, despite the sanctions for the war in Ukraine.
“There was no violence, they quickly caused us to claim action (Greenpeace) and tell us that we are going to restore health and save, but without saying when,” said Delhomo, who said that all the authorities, including the French presidency, were informed about this robbery.
Greenpeace France assured that its action seeks to condemn how France increased its imports of natural gas and chemical fertilizers in Russia in recent years, in addition to this country for the processing of uranium.
“These imports indirectly finance the Kremlin’s military mechanisms, which continues its mortal attacks in Ukraine,” the organization added on social networks.
Greenpeace promises to return the figure, which costs about 40,000 euros
Its director in France, Jean Francois Juliard, said that the action is “not robbery”, but “credit”, and that they sought to “expose the Macron to the Russian Embassy”.
“We will return it in good condition, but we cannot say when,” he emphasized in the statements of the BFMTV channel.
The figure, the cost of which is about 40,000 euros, was in the room, which was recreated by the Eliseo presidential department, along with others, such as Francois Hollande and Jacques Chirac.
“This is the first time that this happens to us in 50 years,” added the director of the museum, located in the full Parisian “Hausmanns”, on the Grand Boulevards.
Grevin did not close, and some visitors who learned about the news did not give a loan.
The figure was established in 2018 at this museum, a historical institution, the opening of which dates from 1882.
