A delight par excellence of this time, next Saturday, September 7, the Navarrese capital will celebrate the EKOmercado and the 9th Old Tomato Competitionlocal and ecological from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the old bus station in Pamplona.
A good opportunity to all people who love tomatoes that you can taste and discover a wide variety of tomatoes. In addition, from 12:00 to 14:00, there will be a free tomato tasting in the space ‘Come and try it‘from Geltoki’s hand.
ANDthe EKOmercado The course begins with a very special edition and will welcome the 9th edition of the Old Tomato Competitionlocal and organic on Saturday, September 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., which will bring together farmers and amateurs and a wide variety of native tomatoes.
You can buy different varieties of organic tomatoes (pink tomato, jack and pear) at the stand The old bridgewho comes every month with his vegetables grown in Caparroso on the banks of the Aragon River.
In addition to tomatoes, in EKOmercado You can buy the usual foods: cheeses from Tierra Estella and Baztan, beers and oils from Tierra Estella, honey from Izurzu, potatoes and legumes from Munárriz and seasonal vegetables from Ribera. A new producer, Leire Iribarren from Oscoz, joins the EKOmercado with the EKOsagar apple juice. As a guest, the farmer Juan Simón de Murchante will participate with melons.
In the “Come and try it” area, you will be offered free tomato tasting hosted by Geltoki from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
9th Old Tomato Competition
At the same time, in Geltoki The traditional tomato competition will be organized by the Gasterea association and the Gazteluleku company. Each participant can submit up to 3 samples of old tomatoes (non-hybrid) and two tomatoes must be submitted per sample. The samples, maximum 40 in number, will be numbered in order of registration. Registration and sample submission will take place until 10:00 am in Geltoki and the prize-giving will take place at 1:30 pm.
EKOmeeting on September 5th
In addition, we are recovering the EKOencuentros, the master cooking classes and the subsequent organic dinner that take place on the Thursday before the market. On this occasion, the EKOencuentro will also be dedicated to tomatoes and chefs Julen Fernández and Julen Urtasun from Bar Avenida/Olio Pizza Bar will teach us how to cook three tomato dishes: tomato with gelatin and granita, in pesto tartare and treated as meat.
