Civil Guard transfers Rafa Mir to court after two nights in prison for alleged sexual assault

The Civil Guard has transferred Valencia Football Club player Rafa Mir and a friend of the player to the Llíria court where they will be questioned this morning about the complaint of alleged sexual assault and assault against two young people last Sunday. Mir spent two nights in a cell after his arrest on Monday due to the seriousness of the events. The footballer’s lawyer, Jaime Campaner, assured this Wednesday that the sexual relations between the footballer and the woman who reported him were consensual “without a doubt”.

Campaner explained to the media that he has not yet been able to speak with the player since his arrest and that he does not know “the file” of the case, which is why he indicated that he could not evaluate it. This Sunday, a 21-year-old girl reported having suffered a double sexual assault by the 27-year-old Murcia striker in the house where she lives in the Torre En Conill urbanization in Bétera (Valencia). In addition, another woman, aged 25, also reported an assault on a friend of Mir, arrested this Tuesday. In particular for a punch that he allegedly gave them to evict them from the footballer’s home.

The events occurred on Sunday around seven o’clock. After meeting in a nightclub, the two plaintiffs, Mir and a friend, went to the Valencia player’s home. Inside the house, as elDiario.es learned, the footballer allegedly had consensual relations with the 25-year-old girl. Later, he allegedly tried to have relations with the 21-year-old, who allegedly refused. It was at that time that the two sexual assaults allegedly took place, one in the pool and the other in the bathroom. After the 25-year-old’s behavior made her ugly, both women were forcibly evicted from the house. It was at that moment that Mir’s friend allegedly hit the 25-year-old woman.

After leaving the footballer’s home early on Sunday morning, where the local police of Bétera went, alerted by a neighbor who heard screams, the women were treated at the La Fe hospital in Valencia and filed a complaint with the Civil Guard, who arrested Mir the following day. Monday. On Tuesday, his friend was arrested.

The player did not attend Valencia’s training session on Tuesday morning because he was already at the armed institute in the Patraix neighborhood, where he spent his second night. Valencia issued a statement on Tuesday saying it was aware of the arrest, but said it did not know the “details” of the case and made itself available to the courts.

Born in Cartagena (Murcia), Mir is 27 years old, he finished his training in Valencia and in the winter market of 2018 he was transferred to Wolverhampton. In 2021 he signed with Sevilla, a club with which he has a contract until June 2026 and which reached an agreement this summer for him to play on loan this season at the Mestalla club.
