However, the club’s financial situation forced them to consider the possibility of releasing Gundogan. Barcelona need to make adjustments to the salary allocation to comply with La Liga regulations, in order to register Dani Olmo in the team for the 2024/2025 season.

This was one of the main reasons behind the decision to release Gundogan. Besides him, other players such as Clément Lenglet and Vitor Roque are rumoured to be released in order to adjust the club’s financial situation.
