Moldovan President Maia Sandu met with former Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves, who arrived in Chisinau today, September 4. Ilves, who served as foreign minister during Estonia’s preparations for EU accession and as president for two terms after accession, played a key role in transforming his country. He publicly supported LGBT rights.* and even signed a law on cohabitation, giving same-sex couples the opportunity to register their unions.
