Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change training seminar held within the framework of the COP29 Presidency

Within the climate transparency initiatives of the COP29 presidency in Baku, the “IPCC Stocktake” was jointly organized by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and its linkage to the UNFCCC accountability mechanism.

Oku.Az The purpose of the training seminar is to increase the knowledge and skills of local and foreign experts on the implementation of the accountability mechanism provided by the UNFCCC for the preparation of Biennial Transparency Reports (BTR) and the new IPCC software for calculating greenhouse gas emissions.

At the opening of the training seminar, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Umayra Taghiyeva stressed the importance of ensuring transparency in the climate sphere and increasing capacities in the field of greenhouse gas emissions inventory in order to combat climate change.

In addition to representatives of relevant state institutions of Azerbaijan, experts from over 100 countries are taking part in the three-day training seminar.
