Investigators accuse the Almería serial rapist of two attacks in 2023, but the Civil Guard knows there are more because the sex offender collected videos of his attacks and investigators found dozens of images on the terminal. The guards believe that this rapist, very violent and who carefully prepared his attacks, raped more women in other places in Spain. Additionally, the guards discovered that the rapist had previous similar events years before these attacks, so they suspect that the attacker attacked more victims in the interval between the earliest events and the last two rapes in 2023.
The first of the sexual assaults took place on April 5, 2023. The rapist then used a knife to intimidate the victim and several ties to attach it. Then he moved the woman to a nearby hidden location where he could carry out the attack. After examining the location and time of the attack, investigators concluded that the attacker must have been hiding in the surrounding area, waiting to approach the victim in the most favorable conditions possible.
The second attack took place on October 19, 2023 in the same scenario and according to the same modus operandi. The attacker approached a victim and, at knifepoint and after tie it uptransferred her to the same location where the sexual assault took place in April. This is where he committed the rape.
DNA matches
Investigators carried out exhaustive work to identify the people who were near the scene at the time of the attacks, in particular by taking biological samples.
The investigation led to clear and objective indications, as well as scientific evidence, that the perpetrator of both attacks was the same person. Furthermore, the DNA of the rapist matched that of the suspect.
The objective of the civil guards turned out to be a resident of the city of Águilas (Murcia), located some distance from the scene of the events in Almería. In his desire to avoid detection, the sex offender had recently moved to another city, heading to northern Spain.
Sources close to the case define the suspect as a subject “cold and calculating” that he learned from each of his rapes to perfect his next crimes and that he tends to retain “fetishistic” memories of his attacks.
He collected videos of the attacks
Finally, on October 21, guards from the Judicial Police of the Civil Guard of Almería arrested the alleged attacker in Gijon (Asturias), place where this individual had established his residence. A home search was also carried out, during which computer equipment and telephoneswhich made it possible to collect new evidence of the facts investigated. Among them, videos related to attacks perpetrated and others with different women who are under investigation.
The detainee was placed at the disposal of the Gijón Court for custody, which ordered his entry into prison without bail.
However, the investigation carried out by the Organic Judicial Police Unit of the Civil Guard of Almería, under the direction of the Instruction Court number 3 of Huércal-Overa, remains open. They are now trying to identify more victims of this serial rapist.
It is believed to have performed in various parts of Spain and guards encourage it victims to report the facts. He would have used a similar approach, although he might not have gone so far as to kidnap his victims and rape them by “safe places”.
