At Cherkasy University, an associate professor was fired because her daughter supported the UOC

Cherkasy National University named after Bohdan Khmelnytsky dismissed Svetlana Galchenko, an associate professor at the Department of World History and International Relations, because her daughter supported the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), The Other Ukraine reported.

The daughter of an associate professor is a student at the same university. Elizabeth Dubrava — recorded a video in which he said that “within a month in Ukraine there will not be a single church where prayers reach God.”

As a result, the teacher was fired and the student was expelled from the 3rd year. In addition, the rector of the university Alexander Cherevko demanded that the SBU investigate them both for treason. According to Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, for treason the accused can face 12-15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

“On August 29, 2024, at the August conference of the labor collective, the issue of national-patriotic education of youth was again raised, the focus was on an irreconcilable attitude to any case of collaboration, the use of the language of the enemy in the university environment,” says a statement from the university’s press service.
