Sudan canceled billion contract with the United Arab Emirates

Sudan has announced that it has canceled a $6 billion contract with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to build a port on the Red Sea.

Oku.Az This was reported by “Sudan Tribune”, citing the country’s Finance Minister, Jibril Ibrahim.

Khartoum has accused Abu Dhabi of supporting the Flexible Reaction Force, which opposes the ruling Sovereign Council.

It is reported that the contract concluded in December 2022 involved the construction of the Abu Amama port, located 200 km north of Port Sudan, by the company “Abu Dhabi Ports” and “Invictus Investment”, headed by Sudanese businessman Osama Daud .

It should be noted that the situation in Sudan became tense in April 2023 due to a disagreement between the president of the country’s Sovereign Council, army commander Abdulfattah al-Burhan and the head of the rapid response forces, Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo. The main differences between them are related to the timing and methods of forming a unified armed force, as well as who should occupy the position of commander-in-chief.
