The Korea International Trade Association announced on the 25th that it held the “Korea-US Southeast Economic Council General Meeting” in Atlanta, the United States on the 23rd (local time) with the Consulate General in Atlanta, the Atlanta Trade Center of KOTRA, and six offices of the US southeast state governments. This meeting was prepared to expand economic and trade cooperation between the two regions and support Korean enterprises entering the region as investment and advancement of Korean enterprises in the southeastern region of the United States have increased recently. As the secretariat of the Korea-US Economic Council, KITA has held 19 “Korea-US Southeast Joint Meetings” between 1986 and 2008. This time, the Korea-US economic cooperation channel was revived for the first time in 16 years. Lee In-ho (pictured), vice president of the Korea International Trade Association, said: “I am pleased that a channel has been reopened to strengthen economic cooperation with the southeastern region of the United States at a time when corporate exchanges between the two countries are becoming increasingly more active.” He added: “We will expand cooperation in the future.”
