Donald Trump and Kamala Harris tie in Dixville Notch, first city to vote in the United States

Former American president and Republican candidate for the White House, Donald Trump, and his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harristhey equalized this morning in the district of Dixville Notch, New Hampshire which is historically the first city in the country to vote on Election Day.

THE six voters of Dixville Notch voted at midnight and were immediately able to certify the result: three votes for Trump and three more for Harrisa tie that seems to agree with polls that show very narrow margins in the most important states in these elections.

In 2020, Joe Biden won

In 2020, the current president, the Democrat Joe Biden won in Dixville Notch by five votes to zero and the results of the last elections were relatively aligned with the trend at the national level.

The tradition of voting from the first minutes of election day in this region of the northeastern United States dates back to 1960 and since then only two leaders have obtained all the votes of their inhabitants: Richard Nixon, the same year, and Biden in 2020.

Polls in the rest of the country will begin opening early this morning and begin closing at 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time in the United States. If the margins are very tight, as expected, the country could have to wait several days for the recount and tabulation of all the ballots in the most competitive states.

The average of the latest surveys compiled by the portal FiveThirtyEight places Trump with a two-point lead in Arizona, while in the rest of the swing states (Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia, North Carolina and Nevada) the margins are one point or less for one of the two candidates.
