None of these dependencies had to do with the crimes of which Errejón is currently accused, at least several sources in this political space assure him. He started therapy himself and spoke about it to a small group of people in the party, including Yolanda Díaz. This was perceived favorably and, in fact, among those around him it was clear that “it was better” for months.
In Sumar they emphasize that the issue of therapy is, to some extent, a minor issue and that the important thing in the process was to “accompany” their spokesperson in the treatment, as is expected of “the party who defends mental health. TO DO.
However, several members of the parliamentary group had already warned Errejón to control his “personal life” and “monitor his relationships” once he became spokesperson.
The warnings are not limited to January. Already in June 2023, the same week in which the lists of deputies to Congress were presented, Díaz had been warned – according to versions, up to two different parties – that Errejón was accused of an episode of sexual abuse committed on the same month in Castellon.
It was then that Díaz, this time according to his own version, transferred all his responsibilities to Más Madrid, the party under whose initials Errejón was running in the elections. “They opened an investigation and then told my team that this investigation was closed,” the vice president said on Monday, who now recognizes that “this should never have been neither MP nor spokesperson“.
A footnote. The 2023 Twitter feed was published on Monday at 9:10 a.m. and the closing of the electoral rolls took place the same day at 11:59 p.m. Más Madrid therefore had barely half a day to find the publications, analyze them, investigate and decide that Errejón was not guilty.
This speed in discovering that their number 4 in Congress was innocent is surprising compared to another of the versions also given by the Madrid team. They say regarding this 2023 accusation, they were the ones who raised the alarm with Sumar, but then investigated and dropped the charges in just 12 hours.
Concerning the 2024 accusation, the party says it detected the complaint Monday morning and, at the same record time, the request for dismissal is attributed to the spokesperson.
The comparison between the two cases becomes even stranger when Errejón’s name is not even mentioned in the accusation published on social networks last week, but it is in the one from 2023 that Más Madrid rejected.
Yolanda Díaz, for her part, hides behind the fact that the party of Monique Garcia filed the first case and in which, at least in recent months, Errejón’s treatment appears to be having an effect. According to her, the checks prior to said therapy failed and, therefore, “errors” precede the process of psychological support.
In other words, and according to his own official version, Sumar was not involved at any time in the process of collect information and do your own research. Not even to ask Errejón directly what had happened.
That said, no one in the parliamentary group or in Sumar will take on more responsibilities under the Errejon affair. So far the only dismissal has been that of the Madrid MP Loreto Arenillasaccused by her own party of having tried to conceal the spokesperson in a version which does not seem to hold either and which she categorically denies.
“If, when preparing the lists, I had known that Íñigo Errejón was an alleged sexual assaulter, I would tell you: […] “I was in no way going to be part of a public representation space,” Díaz clarified on Monday in an attempt to clarify whether or not he was aware of the alleged cases of assault. He also admitted that he knew he was going to “.therapy.”
But the fact is that he was aware of these cases, in his own words, or at least he was aware of the aforementioned “investigation” that Más Madrid had opened a year before. “But I never heard about that incident again,” he said.
