“I think we should be able to do it quite easily. It’s entirely in our hands,” he said at a rally in the city of Grand Rapids, Michiganwith which he ended his campaign before Americans go to the polls in a few hours.
In his speech, Trump criticized slowness of the machines that will read the election results. “What’s going on inside these machines? We want the answer tomorrow, tonight,” he said, keen to cast doubt on the results which, due to tight margins in several states , could take days to arrive.
His rally, the fourth in a marathon day through key states, began after midnight, nearly two hours late, at Van Andel Arena, an NBA minor league stadium with a capacity of about 12,000 peoplepacked to receive the former president.
This Michigan city of just over 195,000 people, he says, is “a special place.” He also ended his three presidential campaigns there. In 2016, Michigan won and has since been added to the list of key states.
The modest stadium chosen by the Republican contrasted with the one chosen by the Democratic candidate to close her campaign: the city of Philadelphia, cradle of American democracy, with artists like Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin as guests.
“She held a rally today. There couldn’t have been more than 100 peopleand I had four full stadiums,” the former president said of Harris’ event, which was packed.
Surrounded on stage by several of his children and supported by his fans, who waited hours to attend his final rally as a presidential candidate, the 78-year-old politician defined Harris as “a left-wing radical madman.”
“But we must not be satisfied with weakness, incompetence, decadence (…) With your vote tomorrow, we can solve every problem facing our country and take America, indeed the world, to new heights of glory,” he said.

Tied in the polls
