Trump casts doubt on ABC’s ‘impartiality’ ahead of debate with Kamala Harris

Former US President and Republican candidate for the White House, Donald Trumptried to sow doubt this Wednesday on the “impartiality” of the channel ABC before his first debate with the vice president and Democratic candidate, Kamala Harrisalthough he had previously accepted its conditions.

In an interview with Fox News with host Sean Hannity, Trump said that ABC is “the worst network in terms of impartiality,” called its reporting “dishonest,” insulted one of its reporters and assured that Harris would “get the questions in advance” through his contacts, according to Efe.

This afternoon, ABC published on September 10 the rules of the debate, accepted by both campaigns, and which expressly state that neither the candidates nor their workers will receive in advance the topics or questions that the moderators will ask them, among other things.

The program of Fox News“town hall” formatwith questions from the public which will be broadcast this Thursday, took place in the key state of Pennsylvaniawhere both campaigns are trying to win over voters these days, since early voting will soon be launched for the November 5 elections.

In this sense, Trump addressed an important issue in this state: the hydraulic fracturing (hydraulic fracking for unconventional natural gas extraction), alluding to Harris’ change of position, who said in 2019 that she would veto the practice, but during her campaign she corrected and denied that she would veto it.

“If she wins, they won’t have hydraulic fracturing in Pennsylvania. You have 500,000 jobs, think about it.is its largest company and most of its revenue comes from hydraulic fracturingand they’re going to have someone who won’t allow it. They can’t take any risks, they have no choice: they have to vote for me even if they don’t like it,” he harangued.

Trump used recurring arguments, such as the association between “illegal immigrants” and violence, and repeated the unfounded figures of 20 million undocumented immigrants supposedly coming from foreign prisons and asylums to the country, to promise again a mass deportation if he wins the election.
