The President of the Congress of Deputies, Francine Armengolannounced this Tuesday the sending of 15 million euros from the Chamber’s budget to those affected by DANA in Valencia. A surplus funds item, based on the unexecuted budget, which has been claimed by Vox last Thursday October 31. 36 hours after the tragedy, as indicated in the registry documents. Armengol announced it in the commission which certifies the Government assault on RTVE.
Last Thursday, Vox requested the mobilization of Congress’s own resources to help alleviate the serious emergency situation in which tens of thousands of Valencian citizens found themselves affected by the disastrous flood of last Tuesday, October 29. The request was made on October 31, in writing addressed to the President of the Congress. This Tuesday it was announced and self-awarded by Armengol.
“We have allocated 30 million euros to help those affected by DANA. 15 million comes from the Congressional budget; the rest, from the Cortes Générales. With this money, we will articulate direct aid so that the institutions are where they should be: with the people,” Armengol said.

On suggestion from Vox
In this text, which OKDIARIO was able to consult, Vox expresses “its deep regret for the pain of so many compatriots who are currently suffering the tragic consequences of the DANA meteorological phenomenon which has devastated vast areas of our geography”. And Vox directly proposed devoting superfluous or excess expenses to the victims of Valencia.
Vox emphasizes that his group “constantly proposes the elimination of all superfluous and unproductive political and ideological expenditures that do not aim to satisfy the real needs of the Spanish people.” Faced with tragedies like the one we are experiencing as a nation, it becomes even more obvious what the real needs of the Spanish people really are.
Remaining funds
“During its previous fiscal year, the Congress of Deputies executed only 71.22% of its budget. It is assumed that around 6,000,000 euros remain unfulfilled,” Vox noted.
They also reported “a striking case of expenses that are not intended to satisfy the real needs of Spaniards” such as “the simultaneous translation system for an approximate amount of €6,000,000.”
“These figures prove the existence of funds that could be allocated to a cause as relevant as the one mentioned,” underlined Vox in its initiative for Valencia.
“It is for this reason that we address the Presidency of the House to insistently ask you to articulate all the legal mechanisms at your disposal so that the sums allocated to the truly dispensable positions in the Congress of Deputies are directed towards a kind funds to collaborate in the reconstruction of the areas affected by DANA and in supporting the Spaniards who suffered from it,” they noted.
To the RTVE commission
Vox MP Manuel Mariscal asked this Tuesday that Armengol suspend the commission for the election of members of the RTVE Council: “This has nothing to do with the Spaniards who are suffering an immense tragedy.”
The spokesperson for VOX in this RTVE commission, Manuel Marisca, spoke before the president began the consultative appointment session of the RTVE Council to request its suspension: “In these moments of national emergency , no one understands that we can hold a commission in which we will debate something that has nothing to do with the Spaniards who are suffering an immense tragedy. “That doesn’t make any sense.”
Furthermore, he criticized Armengol for his attitude in rejecting the request: “Before being a politician, you are a person, I ask you this out of empathy with all the Spaniards who are going through a difficult time, who have lost everything, including their lives, that you do not respect the orders of the PSOE and the government and that you suspend the session.
