Three companies operating 6,000 vehicles will disappear in October for failing to comply with safety conditions
Madrid City Council is starting the process of revoking the permits granted to the three shared electric scooter rental companies – they operate a total of 6,000 – because IThey do not respect the conditions established in the authorization bases. The delegate for Urban Planning, Environment and Mobility, Borja Carabantesigned the decree to repeal them on Thursday. This action will result in the disappearance of rental scooters from the city starting in October.
The city councilor explains that the requirements were not met under which these concessions were issued and cannot guarantee that they did not meet the safety requirements to ensure safety, particularly in the case of pedestrians: “Technological improvements have not been made to ensure that they do not walk on the sidewalk or park in inappropriate places,” he noted. AlmeidaNeither the number of scooters nor their distribution by district have been respected, adds the mayor, who stressed that he would no longer grant concessions of this type, which does not prevent private scooters from continuing to circulate in the city.
