Two employees caught accepting a bribe of 7.7 million rubles – EADaily, September 5, 2024 – Economic news, Russian news

Former employee of the Department of Advanced Interspecific Research and Special Projects of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation Andrei Chekmazov and his deputy Dmitry Fomin have been placed under house arrest in the case of a bribe worth more than 7.7 million rubles, this was reported today, September 5, in the Labor Code of Military Investigative Bodies of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

“In the period from June 2023 to September 3 of this year, Chekmazov and Fomin received a bribe from Sukharev in the total amount of 7 million 710 thousand rubles for the unhindered acceptance of the stages of work being performed and for failure to take action in response to the identified violations, as well as general patronage and connivance in the service. The court, at the request of the investigation, chose a preventive measure in the form of detention in relation to Chekmazov and in the form of house arrest in relation to Fomin.” – says the message.

As noted by the Investigative Committee, Alexander Sukharev, Deputy General Director of Oborontest JSC, is also being investigated in the criminal case. He is suspected of committing a crime under Part 5 of Article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (giving bribes on an especially large scale).

“The investigation established that in 2016 and 2022, 2 government contracts were concluded between the Department of Advanced Interspecific Research and Special Projects of the Ministry of Defense of Russia and JSC Oborontest to carry out development work for the needs of the Ministry of Defense of Russia as part of the execution of a state defense order with a total value of 1.5 billion rubles,” – the department explained.

The investigation of the criminal case is under the control of the Main Military Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
