The Triangulo Foundation denounced a “lesbophobic aggression” occurred on September 1 in the San Miguel neighborhood of Valladolid, when a boy from a group of three allegedly inflicted a hit a young woman while shouting “fucking lesbian”all within the framework of the Fairs and Festivals of the Virgin of San Lorenzo.
As reported by the organization, the events took place near Piazza Fabio Nelli, where one of the boys hit the young woman, who suffered “a double jaw fracturerequiring immediate hospitalization and surgery.
The Triangulo Foundation said the “brutal attack” happened after the victim came across the group of boys, one of whom asked her name and when she answered, he attacked her shouting “fucking lesbian”, after which she ran away.
Other people passing through the area helped the young woman and called emergency services and the police, in addition to chasing the attackers, as detailed by the organization, which condemned the attack and expressed its support for the victim.
In this sense, he hopes that it will be investigated as hate crime since, as he pointed out, “the fact of shouting ‘fucking lesbian’ undoubtedly implies that the attack took place for a motive of hatred towards LGBTI people, in this case towards a woman whom the attackers considered to be a lesbian.”
In this way, he asked the State Security Forces and Corps for a “thorough investigation that does not leave aside the motivation of the fact for its criminal qualification.” The events were reported to the National Police by the victim’s father, demanding that the victim be immediately hospitalized.
On the other hand, the Triangulo Foundation expressed its concern about “the increase in hate crimes for reasons of sexual orientation and gender identity, for ideological reasons or any other type, which have been occurring in recent months and years.”
Likewise, he called on the public to help victims if they witness any aggression and to collaborate in the identification and/or arrest of the perpetrators, and warned that this type of hate crimes “are normalized and encouraged by the positions of the extreme right which, increasingly widespread, rejects diversity and denies equal rights to a part of our citizens.
“We encourage you to firmly reject hateful, intolerant and anti-democratic speech and to strengthen your commitment to defending the human rights of all,” he concluded.
