Two workers died and three others were injured, one of them seriously, when a crane collapsed in the port of El Musel in Gijón, according to initial information provided to EFE by the emergency services.
The accident occurred at around 11:07 a.m. for unknown reasons at the quay of Bearwhere the two cranes fell onto part of the platform.
Several security teams went to the scene. Firefighters of Gijón collaborate in the rescue and search tasks because in the first moments it was considered that a worker could have fallen into the sea.
He Emergency Medical Care Service (SAMU) moved several ambulances and mobile intensive care units to the port, one of which transported the worker who had suffered more serious injuries to the port. Central University Hospital of Asturias, in Oviedo.
Another mobile intensive care unit transferred another injured person to the hospital in Cabueñes, Gijonwith a reserved prognosis, while a basic support ambulance transported the third employee to the same health center with minor injuries, according to data provided by SAMU.
