“Azerbaijan can adopt Dubai’s experience during the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) and use it to strengthen sustainable tourism in the country.”
This was stated by Shahab Shayan, Regional Director of International Operations for the Asia-Pacific Region of Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism, in his statement to “Report”.
According to him, Dubai is actively implementing projects to ensure environmental sustainability in tourism:
“For example, the preparation for COP28 included significant efforts to develop infrastructure as well as the implementation of environmentally responsible practices in the hotel and tourism sector. We are ready to provide comprehensive support to Azerbaijan in the process of preparing for COP29,” the regional director noted.
It should be noted that the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) was held in Dubai from November 30 to December 12, 2023. The decision to hold COP29 in Azerbaijan was announced in Dubai.
Azerbaijan joined the UN obligations in 2015: the Paris climate agreement (signed by 198 countries) shares the concerns of the world’s states about global warming due to the greenhouse effect.
