On the occasion of its popular festivals, the Lequeitio Town Hall (Vizcaya) is full of posters in favor of the release of ETA prisoners. And more specifically, as reported by the Collective of Victims of Terrorism (Covite), they are demanding the release of Julen Atxurra Egurola, alias Potote, sentenced to more than thirty years in prison for ordering the kidnapping of prison official José Ortega Lara.
“The institutions that legitimize ETA’s terrorism are the most bitter face of post-terrorism,” Covite says. They identify not only Atxurra, but also the name of Liher Rodríguez on the banner. Last July, he admitted in a trial before the National Court to having supplied explosives to commandos of the terrorist group.
