Prison for 15 of 45 arrested for looting and looting in areas most affected by DANA

The custody courts of areas of the province of Valencia affected by DANA, Torrent, Catarroja and Alzira, tried a total of 45 detainees for allegedly participating in acts of looting and looting since the beginning of the episode, including 15 sent to prisonaccording to data collected until noon this Tuesday. The total number of people arrested for these events amounts to the 175as detailed by state security forces and organs.

In the judicial district of Torrent, the president of the Court of Instruction number 3, acting as guardian, received 31 people and prison granted for 15 of them for the aggravated offense of theft with violence in an establishment open to the public, the commission of which took advantage of an accident or “the existence of a general risk or danger for the community which weakened the defense of the person injured or facilitated the unpunished commission of the crime.

Four of those arrested who were imprisoned were arrested by the Civil Guard after being surprised in the vicinity of a shopping center with belongings that they had just stolen from several businesses like sports equipment, mobile phones and a video game console, among others.

The judge believes that they were able to benefit from the impunity conferred on them by the fact that security forces were handling the emergency situation generated by DANA for allegedly committing the theft. For 16 other detainees in this judicial district, the judge accepted freedom with the obligation to appear in court when required. All are being investigated in an open case for the aforementioned crime of robbery.

For his part, in Alzira, seven detainees appeared before the service judge, who accepted freedom for all. They are under investigation as part of an open case for attempted theft. Everyone has an obligation to appear in court when required.

In Catarroja is also seven years old the people brought to justice since the beginning of the episode for thefts committed in bars, supermarkets and stores of Alfafar and Benetúser. The investigating judge 3, acting as guardian, granted them their freedom with, as a precaution, a monthly appearance before the court.
