Council to maintain aid for farms affected by EHE

The president of the Junta de Castilla y León, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, announced during the inauguration of the Salamaq 2024 Fair that the regional government would continue to grant aid for farms affected by epizootic haemorrhagic disease (EHE) during this year. In addition, he announced that the regional executive will allocate an additional 10 million euros to farms that, in 2023, would not be able to benefit from this aid.

Fernandez Manueco stressed that this initiative is “another example of the commitment that the government of Castilla y León maintains with agriculture and livestock in the Community”, a “strategic” sector to which it allocates this year more than 1,500 million euros, which represents 11% of the budget.

On the other hand, he stressed that the The Junta de Castilla y León has granted 145 million euros in funds own aid against drought, “the greatest contribution of all the autonomous communities”; and it is the “most agile” administration that manages the funds of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), with the firm commitment to advance 70% of the aid of the first pillar on October 16 and 90% before the end of 2024; in both cases, the maximum authorized.

In his speech, the President of the Regional Executive asked the Department of Agriculture that “it is fulfilling its commitment” with the Sheep Plan “and the pending aid”, and announced that, if not, the Junta de Castilla y León “will implement measures, counting on the participation of the sector”.

On the tax front, as part of the new tax cuts that will accompany the Community budgets for 2025, the Council will extend the abolition of inheritance and gift taxes for the transfer of agricultural holdings to 4th degree relatives and to employees who have worked on them for at least 3 years.

The President indicated that the Salamaq Fair “This is the best scenario to highlight the strategic nature of the agricultural and livestock sector, which helps to establish the population and generates opportunities, wealth and employment in Salamanca and, also, throughout Castile and León.”

In this edition, the school makes its debut “Land of flavors”“which will bring the good image of the agri-food products of Castilla y León to the families of the Community and all of Spain.”
