Lithuania has built “dragon’s teeth” and other fortifications near the bridge connecting the Kaliningrad region of the Russian Federation with the Baltic Republic.
Oku.AzAccording to information from the Press Service of the Ministry of Defence of Lithuania.
According to the information, on Thursday, September 5, in Panemune, the Lithuanian authorities presented the reinforcement of the Queen Louise Bridge with counter-mobilization measures and also demonstrated how the crossing of the Neman River will be closed.
“The Louisa Bridge is the property of the Russian Federation, so today we can only build obstacles in front of the bridge. Here, the movement of enemy forces could be hampered by our hedgehogs, “dragon’s teeth” and barbed wire. In addition to all the measures listed, it is also planned to reinforce the bridges with metal beams and build obstacles,” said Defence Minister Laurinas Kaščiunas.
According to him, the river crossing will be protected by mines, “dragon teeth”, hedgehogs and razor wire.
According to Interior Minister Agne Bilotaite, the creation of the defence line is a further step towards strengthening the defence of Lithuania’s state border, which is the external border of the European Union and NATO.
“One of the most important components in the creation of the Lithuanian defence line is the proper protection and preparation for the defence of the state border. We will continue to closely cooperate with the Lithuanian army to provide heavy weapons to border guards, and we will also use all opportunities to obtain funding from the European Commission to strengthen border control,” Bilotayte said.
