The second afternoon of the “Golden Potter” in Villaseca de la Sagra had different energies throughout the afternoon, but there were two that stood out above the rest. Within a varied, noble and even approachable Rehuelga bullfight, with interesting nuances, emanated the energy of the two clear protagonists of the afternoon. Valentin Hoyos and ‘Hospedero’. Class and pure bullfighting against the bravery and dedication of a top bullfighting bull. The yin and yan of bullfighting in the same afternoon that never crossed, since Valentín fought the first and defeated the fourth and “Hospedero” fell into the hands of Cristiano Torres in the fifth round. Two great energies, arguments of a long afternoon with little content in general terms.
Valentín Hoyos, originally from Salamanca, arrived with clear ideas to his appointment at Villaseca de la Sagra. As a good apprentice, he reviewed the lesson and pampered the Sagreña fans with details and gestures of respect. With a first full of quality and loaded with bad intentions that Juan José Domínguez treated impeccably, Hoyos fought with great firmness and courage despite the animal’s continued efforts. When he managed to subdue him, the utrero responded, giving him a handful of well-used natural attacks. With the fourth, it was another story, extraordinarily stung by Tito Sandoval in a demonstration of technique. Valentín was able to see the excellent condition of the bull to curdle the “Mexican” attack on the burel, that best responded to the gentle natural caresses of the bullfighter. I really liked the performance of Hoyos, who excelled all afternoon with his left hand. The sword was the executioner of Hoyos’ afternoon, losing two important victories in a very accomplished afternoon of Salamanca, which we are looking forward to.
The other point of energy of the bullfight was the unexpected arrival of ‘Hospedero’, fifth encore of the afternoon, who jumped into the ring with a dark face after the return of the fifth starter. A priori, it was going to be just one more, but when I arrived at the crutch, everything changed. Humiliation, travel and excessive nobility were the introductory letter of a flag bull that was fought by the master Cristiano Torressurpassed on some occasions by the strength of the animal. The truth is that, despite the efforts of the bullfighter, the task did not reach the finish line and he was whistled after an intense push. After the judgment with the steel, the people ruled on the scales and condemned; return to the ring for ‘Hospedero’ of the Condé de Mayalde (the second of the Toledo breeding at this fair).
Something similar happened in front of the third, a bull in good condition and which responded nobly in the deceptions and a common, solvable and sometimes accelerated task, of a Cristiano Torres who signed another final arrimón as a personal seal of his bullfighting. The sword also buried a performance worthy of the hand.
Bruno Aloi’s afternoon went unnoticed. The concept of the bravest and most dedicated bullfight was not reciprocated as it should have been. Two performances of dry courage that, although they had merit due to the danger of their fate, were not compact enough to resonate with the public. Although value and race are not negotiable, the Mexican may have sinned by overextending his tasks, especially in the face of the sixth where only the transmission was accompanied by the “ouch” of an imminent fuck. The sword did not help either, leaving his performance evaluated at two silences.
