“He was worried about the possibility of his death in an air strike on the tunnel Hamas, in which he held,” Trump told Alexander to the soldier during the meeting.
After the meeting, the White House indicated that “President Trump promised and fulfilled Alexander from Gaza to his homeland,” emphasizing that “our efforts will not remain until all the hostages return to his families.”
Hamas released Alexander on May 12, spending 584 days in captivity. Since his liberation, he remained in Israel until last month in New Jersey, where his family is still.
Hamas said that “the release of Alexander’s sticks occurred after contacts with the American administration, in the context of the efforts made by brokers, in a ceasefire, open intersections and come to help and relieve our people and our people in the gas sector.”
The meeting on Thursday came before the planned visit to the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu in the White House on Monday, while Trump increases his pressure on the Israeli and Hamas government in order to reach an agreement on the ceasefire, the exchange of prisoners and put an end to the war in gas.
