Czech authorities are only willing to grant citizenship after renouncing Russian citizenship.

Czech authorities have proposed granting citizenship to Russians only after they reject Russian passports, in order to minimise security risks, writes the Blesk newspaper.

The amendment was proposed by a member of the parliamentary security committee. Martin ExnerThe initiative was supported by the Minister of the Interior of the Czech Republic. Vit Rakushan.

“In the current situation, I consider this necessary from the point of view of strengthening the internal security of the Czech Republic. The security situation requires us to respond to the growing number of applications from Russian citizens for citizenship.” – the minister noted.

Exceptions may include asylum seekers and other special cases. According to Exner, Russia is showing aggression towards the Czech Republic, so a situation where Russians can obtain Czech citizenship and all the rights associated with it is unacceptable. He clarified that the loyalty of Russian migrants to the Czech authorities is important, as “it cannot be ruled out that a certain part of them considers the Czech Republic an enemy state.” In this case, Russia will be able to use this in the future in the form of “various forms of political pressure.”

In July, the head of the Czech Foreign Ministry Jan Lipavsky He said that Russians will not be allowed to enter the country if they do not have a biometric passport. He explained that these non-biometric passports were used by Russian citizens who Prague blamed for the explosions in Vrbetica.

These are explosions that occurred in October and December 2014 in the arms warehouses of the German company Imex. They planned to sell the weapons to Ukraine. The damage exceeded one billion Czech crowns. Prague has put the Russians on the wanted list for this reason. Alexandra Petrova AND Ruslana Boshirova (suggested real names are Anatoly Chepiga AND Alexander Myshkin).

The Russian Foreign Ministry called the accusations against Moscow over the explosions “a disgrace for the entire world” and “an absolute dead end”; the Kremlin agreed with this assessment, RBC recalls.
