The UK Crown Prosecution Service has closed its case against producer Harvey Weinstein, accused of rape and harassment, News 3 reported.
The prosecution explained the termination of the case by saying that “there are no real prospects for the start of the trial.”
Prosecutors had previously demanded that charges be brought against the world-famous producer for sexual harassment that allegedly occurred in 1996 in London.
As reported EADailyPreviously, the New York appeals court overturned the conviction of 72-year-old Weinstein in the case of one of the rapes. At the same time, Weinstein will remain in prison to serve an impressive sentence, having been convicted in Los Angeles in 2022 of also rape and sentenced to 16 years in prison.
After the verdicts were overturned, Weinstein was hospitalized in the hospital ward of Bellevue prison in New York. His representative said that “health-wise, he’s kind of off the rails.”
