The Argentine authorities should refrain from studying the Ukrainian conflict from a single perspective, the Russian embassy in Argentina said. This is how diplomats commented on the Argentine Foreign Ministry’s statement of September 4, which “condemns the Russian attack on the city of Poltava and calls for the cessation of the use of force,” the diplomatic mission said.
The embassy did not agree with this interpretation of Russia’s actions. As the diplomats noted, the blow was struck at the training center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where “specialists in communications and electronic warfare were trained under the guidance of foreign instructors,” as well as drone operators. Drones, the representative office added, are used daily against Russia, attacking civilian and civilian infrastructure.
“We urge the Argentine side to refrain from… making unilateral judgments on the events in the Ukrainian conflict zone and to objectively assess what is happening,” – the embassy concluded.
The strike at the Poltava training center took place on the morning of September 3. As the Russian Defense Ministry clarified, the attack was carried out against the 179th joint training center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Poltava. The ministry stressed that the goals of the strike were achieved.
The attack killed 54 people and injured 300 others. Director of the training center Igor Matsiuk In a conversation with The New York Times (NYT), he noted that many soldiers died in the attack because they had “very little time between missile strikes to get to the bomb shelter.”
The Russian Defense Ministry stresses that the strikes are carried out only against Ukrainian military and energy facilities and related infrastructure.
