The goalkeeper of Nigeria at the 1994 and 1998 World Cup, Peter Roya died on Thursday at the age of 61 from the disease, according to the fact that the football association announced.

The Nigerian Federation stated that Roy “died in Lagos after a period of illness”, while his secretary Mohamed Sanussi said that his death was “really shocking”.

Rovay defended the colors of many Nigerian clubs before moving to Benin, Belgium, the Netherlands and Spain.

Rovay played 65 games in the flowers of the Nigerian team from 1983 to 1998.
