The authorities of the Donetsk People’s Republic plan to renovate the entire existing housing stock into apartment buildings by 2048.
This was reported by DAN news agency, citing a statement by the First Deputy Prime Minister of the DPR government. Andrei Chertkov.
“Starting next year, the Republic will begin implementing a major home repair programme. The entire housing stock will be renovated by 2048.” – he assured.
The minister added that this programme requires a lot of capital and initially covers about 450 houses.
“Even though there will be federal funding for major repairs, I think we will start in 2025, including slowly collecting from residents for major repairs. And their money will go towards major repairs to their homes.” – Chertkov explained.
The agency recalls that in February 2023, the Ministry of Construction of the DPR was informed about the formation of a capital repair fund in the region. For this purpose, a housing inventory was initiated.
At the end of August this year, it was reported that the programme would cover around 3.5 million square meters of apartments in the reunited regions within three years, of which around 1.8 million square meters or 415 houses in the DPR.
