Banwangs – The Minister of Transport (Menhub) Dudi Purvagandi directly controlled the evacuation process of KMP Tun Pratama Jay, which sank in the waters of the Bali Strait. The Minister of Transport was present in the port of Ketapagang, Banwang, East Java, on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at night, and confirmed its commitment to delivery safety.
During the visit, the Minister of Transport Dudi instructed the National Security Committee on Transport (NTSC) to investigate the causes of accidents on the ship that occurred on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
“The intersection safety is the main priority. Therefore, I instructed the NTSC to conduct an investigation related to the cause of the accident, and sought to prevent the repetition of similar events, ”said Dudi.
He also asked the joint team, which consisted of bassarne, TNI/Polri, Syahbandar, KPLP, ASDP and other elements to continue and accelerate the search and rescue efforts of the victims.
“We have a gold time that should be used as best as possible. We hope to find more passengers who survived, ”he said.
From the collected data, KMP Tun Pratama Jay transported 65 people consisting of 53 passengers and 12 crew members, as well as 22 units of vehicles. Until the evening of Thursday, 29 people were reported, and 6 people were found dead.
“On behalf of the government, I convey deep sadness for the families of victims. For the survivors, I pray for a recovery immediately, ”he said.
