Demand for dollars in the official market of changes from families showed a reduction in March. The slightest demand, which was before eliminating the exchange rate, corresponds to the closure of the summer vacation season, since much is explained by consumption by cards abroad.
A net departure of dollars from the “man” in March amounted to 570 million US dollars, mainly related to travel, tickets and other needs made with cards with non -resident suppliers, the Central Bank said on Friday in his report on the evolution of the exchange and balance sheet market.
The amount consumed by people in the third month of 2025 for dollar expenses with cards is almost 200 million US dollars compared to 769 million US dollars, which were registered in February, in the mid -summer holidays. That is, they registered a decrease by 26% compared to the previous month.
In addition, the official report also follows that the use of its own dollars to pay consumption in foreign currency compared to the previous month. In February, the central indicated that the share was 55%, and in March it increased to 60%. Nevertheless, it was less than registered in January, when it was 70%.
“It should be noted that about 60% of these needs with cards are subsequently canceled directly by customers with foreign currency funds, which reduces the scarce effect of these consumption on the market of changes and international reserves,” the organization said.
Thus, the proportion of people who prefer to pay directly with dollars, because it is more convenient. “Card dollar”, consisting of an official exchange rate, plus a 30% surcharge on the income tax account, today about $ 1,550 is traded, while Blue and MEP are located in U.S. $ 1,000 and 1185, respectively.
