Iryo will connect Malaga to Barcelona from December 15

Iryo Company, private high-speed operator in which Trenitalia partners Air Nostrum and Globalvia participate, announced today that from December 15th, a new cross-country route will be put into service that will connect the cities of Barcelona and Malaga. This is the company’s second connection that connects the northwest with the south of Spain, joining the route between Barcelona and Seville available from 2023.

With two frequencies per day – one round trip – seven days a week, The route will include stops in Zaragoza, Madrid (20 minutes) and Córdoba. The number of seats that Iryo will offer per year on this route will be 336,530, connecting the two cities in approximately five hours and fifty minutes. Specifically, the departure time from Barcelona will be at 11:50 a.m. with an arrival at 5:42 p.m., while the departure from Malaga will be at 11:35 a.m. with an arrival at 5:37 p.m.

Christian Ley, commercial director of Iryo, stressed that “about to celebrate two years since the start of our operations, we continue to work every day with a focus on perfecting the service and adding more and more frequencies to the current offer. Our goal is for an increasing number of passengers to join the train and, after the success of our first transversal route, we are now announcing this new Barcelona-Málaga connection which we hope will also be well received.

Tickets for 2025

Iryo also announced that it has already loaded 70% of the tickets on its website for travel throughout 2025 to the cities where it operates, being the first rail operator to open sales for next year.

This initiative is part of the company’s commitment to its travelers, offering them the opportunity to plan trips and getaways in advance through flexible tickets without restrictive fares in which customers lose their money. In this sense, they allow all types of changes of date, time, seat and owner, with or without associated cost depending on the chosen fare. Likewise, it is possible extend the flexibility of the “Infinita Bistró and “Singular Only YOU” rates via the +Open modality.

The operator started operations on November 25, 2022 and connects the cities of Madrid, Zaragoza, Barcelona, ​​Tarragona, Cuenca, Valencia, Alicante, Albacete, Córdoba, Seville and Málaga. With a fleet of 20 trains, Iryo has designed a travel proposition based on personalization, comfort and multimodality with the aim of revolutionizing mobility and attracting more and more travelers to the train.
